Episode 029: Fun Fun Fun and More Video Gaming Fun

We logged on this week to chat about the latest happenings in the gamng world and drop the news about our new Net Raiders website theme. Be sure to have a listen. Listen to It Now

I got this email earlier this morning. From a person I had been in contact with during my adventures in AION. I asked him for some thoughts on the game, the bot issues and the gold selling controversy that is currently riddling the game with holes. I was wondering how some of these higher leveled guys were able to keep up. Some are super human, and some buy super human programs. Turns out he was a botter himself, one way or another, the game drove him to it. Anyway, I thought I would post this up here with his permission and just blot out the name since he has a pretty detailed history with MMO’s…. anyway, enjoy the wall of text.

Let me first off start by saying that my name is ###### and yes, I botted in AION. Why did I do it? Well that takes a little bit of explanation. And don’t misunderstand me when I write this. It IS wrong. It’s cheating plain a simple. However, in light of this latest “Bot Exodus” there are a lot of kids spitting on the corpses of these dead bots. Understandable, I was one of them at one point. But I figured I would like to post some sort of reasoning behind the madness. I didn’t do it to be an asshole and sink an economy. But, like I said, this all takes a little bit of an explanation.

Like many who were sick and tired of the WoW fanfare, and disenfranchised by the fail that was Warhammer Online… I had blindly drank the NCsoft Kool-Aid thinking that AION was going to be the MMO to end all MMO’s (heh big mistake). It promised the depth and balance of WoW, merged with the epic fortress sieges of Dark Age of Camelot. The graphics were (are) amazing, the classes perfect; I was in heaven. What was even more amazing was the beta, where we had the opportunity to play all the way to level 30. I did so pretty quickly, and enjoyed what little PvP there was to be had until release came.

This game was going to have it all, or so I thought. And I am an MMO pro. I had several max levels in DAOC, WoW, CoH, CoV, WAR …. So getting to level 50 was going to be a piece of cake. You see the critical thing to remember in any MMO that hails from the eastwestern American market is that Asian players are far more obsessed with the leveling than they are with the quests, or even really (from my personal observation…) the end game content. I think Ragnorok is a prime example of this. The grind itself is the payoff, not the completion of quests or raids. Once you hit max level, you got to reset your character and level them again for a “super max level” character. And NCsoft US did a great job of hiding this end content from us through a couple of different means. Primarily, they didn’t say a damn thing about their game from the time you start leveling to the time you finish. All of the video podcasts I saw were just a verbal beat-off of their end game content. Talking about how amazing and complex the game was. Looking back on those videos, they never really touched any critical parts of the game… like time to level (in an American market). And they left their community completely in the dark with absolutely no acknowledgement or feedback discussion; think of Mythic and their development process as the polar opposite of this communication fail.

The game then came out and it was amazing. I shot up to level 11 in the first day before taking a break to sleep. The next day was 11 – 13. As to be expected. The next day was 13 – 14, and then after that it was about a day or two before the next level. It is also important to point out at this point that I try my best to win in RL. I have a pretty good advertising job in the bay area, I have a girlfriend, bills, and the whole lot that comes with being an adult. So the good old days of college where the epic leveling grind session was a thing of the past. I had, on a good night, about 6 hours to devote entirely to AION. Which I think is pretty damn good all things considered. This would be ample time to make it to the end of the game and experience the sweetest open PvP known to man. I mean I did this in WoW and WAR while working a high end job. No sweat right? Wrong. Dead wrong.co

Once I got to level 20, I started to suspect something was up. NCsoft took out some of the elite mob grind spots and replaced them with regular mobs. So my buddies and myself couldn’t start farming for fun. Quests started giving out A LOT less, and I was spending a more than “a few” evenings a week just to get a single level. I came to the full realization that something was seriously wrong with this game when I approached level 31. It took me 10 hours, with rested xp, just to get a level. The quests at this point offered little to nothing in terms of xp. Hell, the reward was the same as killing a few mobs, and half a map away. The time to kill the mobs would be more beneficial than turning in the actual quest… what?? Yeah that, and the fact that teaming up with someone did NOTHING for xp gains. I mean, I know DAOC took a while, but atleast there were group and camp bonuses when you teamed up with people. And the XP from Fire Temple? Laughable at best. Loot drops were miserable and inconsistent. So twinking my way to level 50 was out of the question. If you just pair up with a buddy, the return just wasn’t as fast as grinding by yourself.  Thus all of my friends that I planned to play with… all went their separate ways. It was the only decent way to level… by yourself. The guild chat became the only real way to interact with anyone. And thus the real grind began. After about a week of this I started to pull out my hair. This was a waste. It was going to take months, if not beyond the first of the new year, just to get to the max level. The sweet-sweet bread and butter of PvPvE. That’s all I wanted. And it didn’t make sense. Why would a game, so feverishly centered around end game PvP combat and fortress seiges make the road to PvP combat take so long? It was so completely counter intuitive. Now I know what you are thinking, you can PvP while you level by going through rifts… yeah, well a level 20 something really stands a snowballs chance in hell against a 30 something. I once saw a level 40 on my side take down 6 (six… a  whole six) players, a full group, of level 30. To make matters worse, my account was banned (during their first “exodus”) for apparently being a Chinese bot. And since all I was doing at this point was grinding, I fit the mold perfectly. The truth of the matter was that for a weekend I had gone up to my parents to play, and my father, who is paranoid as ever, has a proxy. So getting my account back took long enough to convince the GM’s that I was an American. Great, I’m grinding so much I look like a Chinese player…. And this set me back in being able to catch up to all of my friends. Most of this was a result of NCsoft’s gameguard…. Or lack there of. A program like Blizzard’s Warden, which monitored all ongoing processes on your machine. They took it out before launch, so there wasn’t (and still isn’t) a concrete way to prove that anyone is using anything malicious to advance in the game short of an IP address. This was also at the beginning of what I like to call the “Bot witch-hunt,” since NCsoft doesn’t even have the technology to properly detect bots. Most likely I was probably “reported” by someone who just wanted me out of their Beluslan grind spot.

Being behind, I got desperate. There needed to be some sort of silver bullet to alleviate this grinding hell. I purchased a guide. I grabbed the one by Kozen. It got favorable reviews, but after I did most of the quests, it only gave me about 20% of a level. Completely worthless and a waste of $39 bucks. I then started to notice something about the people I was playing around. None of them responded. I toss them a buff, no thank you’s. I warned them that opposing faction players were coming to get us, no response. A lot of them had weird names like they just slammed their face on the keyboard. No guild, no title. After a while, and cruising on the forums, I realized these were bots. I was surrounded by them. Everywhere I went. They attacked faster, more efficiently, plus they camped all of the quest mobs that I needed to kill. I tried using that report feature, but obviously NCsoft had tuned out at this point because all of those assholes were still there. Leeching anything I needed in over to move forward in the game.

You know that old saying, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em?” Well I took a long hard look at my experience with AION. I wasn’t having fun… at all. Planning my life around this game was getting on my nerves. I had already been unjustifiably banned once. The PvP was obviously not happening any time soon. The grind was very isolating and boring. In a game that was an MMO, it was Online, and Massive, yet the Multiplayer was flawed beyond repair. So I did the unthinkable. I read up on some reviews, watched a few youtube videos, and then purchased a bot. I would like to say for the record, that it was at this very point that I had quit AION. The justification went as follows…

I hate this game and the time it takes to get to the end is not worth it and tedious beyond belief. I’m already F’d and have no desire to continue wasting my time. The PvP, while not worth the effort, seemed entertaining, so if I could make it to level 50 then maybe I could have a little fun.

And that is exactly what I did. I wasn’t playing AION anymore, I was playing “BOT.” And honestly it was a little more entertaining to watch it grind than actually performing the grind myself (which is sad). Set the guy up in an area of my liking, then take the girlfriend out to a nice candle-lit Champagne dinner. And come home to a bot happily working away next to 10 other bots happily working away. Turn him off, play for an hour or two, and then get some much needed rest. I played other games. I went outside, I ran while the sun was out. It was great. In my entire AION experience, The bot was the smartest move I made. It honestly felt like I was playing WoW again in terms of getting my time back. I had a life and a killer MMO character to boot.

(God I just expressed appreciation for WoW …. *shudders*)

Then when I thought the leveling couldn’t get anymore unbelievable…. It became more unbelievable. In the low 40’s I was clocking in 10, 11, 12 bot grinding sessions and still no level. When I used to wake up to a new level, I woke up to half a level. I started setting up the bot to run while I was at work. I eventually made it to level 48 where it took me 18 hours of non stop grinding just to polish off most of a level!!!! Good thing I was almost done… I hit 50, with a sense of accomplishment. I had totally gotten away with it. Lord only knows how many hours were clocked in total. I honestly never want to know. Even running the bot for that much time proved to be a lot of work. Trust me the feeling was pretty strange since I wasn’t physically there for most of it.

A few days later, came this most recent bot banning, and of course I was banned. It happened right before I went to work. I was brushing my teeth when it happened and was about to level for work. When I tried to log back in, the game informed me that the account was locked….. meh. So I got caught along the way. All good. Like I had said earlier… I quit playing this game when I got the bot. And the botting game was more fun than the leveling game in AION, so it just meant both games were over now. When I got to work, I found out that half of my guild had been banned too. Some guilds in our alliance were virtually wiped clean. Those of us who weren’t banned, have now canceled their accounts…. So we are all most likely going to go back to WoW after we take a month break and get caught up on a little console gaming for a while. Meanwhile I can think of a handful of people off the top of my head that the bot banning missed, and are still going strong at the time that I am writing this.

For what it was worth, it was fun. It was wrong, but fun. I feel that a lot of this could have been avoided, and most of this is NCsoft’s fault in the first place. I know it might seem wrong to blame the victim, but something I realized along the way is that the victims are actually just the normal guys who haven’t considered bots an option. Ironically, the people I sympathize with the most are the people who are going to rip me apart after I post this. It’s funny to read the posts of people cheering on the death of the bots on the AION message boards because most of their characters are around level 25 – 29. They have absolutely no idea just how much time this game is going to be consumed, and I won’t be surprised if the subscription totals start dropping off at the end of December and fall completely flat in January. NCsoft built this game that was going to take forever, because they didn’t have any content or filler to keep most of the high levels interested enough to play honestly. The worst part is that it didn’t need to be this way. They had the power to change all of this for an American market while the game was released a year before in China. If anything this was a market research fail. But an entertaining couple of months to say the least. I am glad the pressure of this game is off of me now. And I am looking forward to an honest run of WoW Cataclysm and Star Wars: The Old Republic. Hopefully they will learn from NCsoft and put a little bit more thought into the journey to max level.

Peace

Update: 12/11/09 – I have been getting a handful of emails regarding this article. I figure I would just make this clear before it becomes trend for my inbox– The person being referred to in this article (the part colored in blue) is not me. I had asked this person to give me his perspective on AION and what I got was a lot more than I expected. I have kept in contact with this person and we are both amazed at the attention this article got, and very intrigued with the feedback. It has been a pleasure reading all the opinions.

Nice insanely long "mail" to simply state -- I bot because the grind is ridiculous.
  • anyomo
awesome story. your story explains to most of everyones well sorta.
  • Que?
Bunch of nubs. There's no grind in Aion and u QQ about it and how hard it is LOL. Go back to wow and easy mode.

    You are pathetic
  • Nefar
You are in serious denial if you believe AION is not based around a complete grind mechanic. Asian market is known for this it's not a state secret. WOW is not "easy" to level unless you use blizzards "bring a friend" and get bonus xp to 60. Which was obviously made to get people wow addicts to purchase vanilla and then pay blizzard another fee to transfer character to their main account. Leveling post 60 its no where near an Aion grind but hardly fast leveling in comparison to other games on the market. If you think that killing the same mobs for countless hours takes any skill and makes a better "player" than any other game on the market you're a fool.

Really? REALLY? in my honest opinion, you sound like one of those people who are excited that they made wow a casual game. there is absolutly no reason why anyone would sympathize with you unless they too were a bot. it dosnt matter if you grind from 1 to 50, or bot from 1-50, the gap is still there. Depending on who someone handles this whole level situation really does say alot about them. no one (that is, no one with a real life, friends, family, womans, jobs, you know... life stuffs) has time to sit down at a computer for hours and play, but guess what, it happens. the fact that someone leveled honestly from 1-50 shows that
    1) they know their character far better then someone who botted, bought theirs
2)has enough gall to actually stick it out through the hard stuff
3)has quite a bit more pride in their character, which ultimatly means better gear, looks, upkeep, etc etc.
i could continue with this list, but it seems pretty obvious what else will be on here. to see someone honesly complain about grinding like this, where there are many games where the level grind is worse, and many more games where you are not designed to reach max level but just continuously grind, only shows that you do not have the drive or compassion to truly take on those mountinous tasks, that when surmounted, really seperates the leaders from the followers. a leader who bots is not a leader, but someone who objectively places themselves at the control and expects people they "lead" to do all the actual leading. if i hear that someone i know bots, it truly ruins my perception of that person for quite a while. makes me think "oh, this person was the one that sits behind you in math class and cheats, then gloats how they worked so hard to get an A". honestly, you need to quite your childish impression of the world. working smart can only get you so far, until you find out that your shoelaces are tied together because the person you paid to do it just tricked you, took your money, and screwed you over, and now you have no cash and you cant tie your shoes.
i truly am sorry for you, but i thank you, because people like you i consider place holders. place holders in the general public that get to ooo and aahh at the real accomplishments of society from people like me.

    hope this helps
    happy grinding

    Synopsis:
Well this one time I was getting ksed by bots and QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ and I figuratively quit Aion once I gave in to my weak mindedness and started botting too, but not really cause I was still hoping to get to 50 to play endgame without earning it and I'm sad I haz banned. At least I still have a job and a girlfriend which sets me apart from everyone else and makes me seem less pathetic to the average reader cause I can haz RL.
  • osomne
Well i used to hate bots too but well you know my principles are somewhat flexible and qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq and I don't have enough time and qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq and the game isnt easy and americanized enough and i dont have enough time and I just wanna be max level and be pro without working for it and i qqqqq.

Thats my synopsis of this post
  • Wow this is fantastic, ! You are certainly multi-talented. What an inspiration! Really like this series! Amazing all outdoors!Great work! That looks so relaxing and peaceful. Perfect actually!! Great work from you. Thanks for sharing this beautiful blog and information with us.

Why are people so obessed with getting to max lvl that they would do anything to reach the end game? Why are they willing to rearrange their lifestyle not because this would allow them to enjoy a game but because they could have more time to work in a game? As if they havent worked enough in rl? Go ask any children why they love to play games and they would tell you because its fun. It is something soo simple that even a 3 year old can tell you that. Yet some adults dont seem to understand that anymore. They would pay to play a game and then complain about it, about how hard it is to lvl, about all the constant grinding, but what do they do ? They keep playing and complaining when It is obvious that they are not having fun at all.

There are so much more to Aion then just lvling, but people fail to see that, because all they care about is work as hard as they could to lvl. They only thing they can see is grinding, endless grinding so they could beat every1 else in PvP. Sure thats fun but thats not the only thing thats fun. PvP is only one part of the entire game, mostly the very last part of it.. the end game. What about the process of getting there? They consider that work.. work in a game. Grinding for hours after hours is certainly no fun.. but nobody says you have to grind for hours nonstop, nobody says you have to reach the max lvl in a few months. Come on people.. haven't you worked enough already in life? Slow down and try to enjoy the game. After all isnt that why we play?

Aion is a breathe-taking fantacy. Everything in the game is a work of art. Try not to be so obessed with work and try to relax and enjoy the stunning graphics, the environments, and the flying. It is only grinding if you make it to be. And if you really do not like the game at all, dont ruin it for people who love it.
  • I'm on the Lumiel server (unofficial RP server) in an RP legion (guild) in Aion, and I have to say that community makes all the difference. We grind, craft, group, rift, and have a very decent time together, and we aren't quite so worried about reaching level cap as everyone else. It's no fun being ganked by a couple lvl 50's at 30, no -- but I wonder how many of those level 50's are gone with the banhammer? We game, we have lives, and we enjoy the content and the setting. We often group even when it might not be the minimax win. We also have some of the most kickass crafters on the server, which makes the irregularity of equipment drops a lot easier to tolerate. Critted crafted gear kicks ass at every level.

Does that mean we're just carebears? Nope. We're ranked 6th legion on the server.

Maybe the botters should think about how minimaxing and botting might not be a total win over community?
  • I think I know where you are coming from, I have not botted - and I won't, but my innocent friend got nailed by the NCSoft Witch-hunt as did others, and I know of many bots still online, unpunished .. which shows how thorough that "ban" was. The worst part is the complete lack of interest from NCSoft, they simply delete emails to them, they do not respond, what comes across is "We got your money so you can get fucked" attitude. I am close to going back to "ugh" WOW too. And I hate the way WOW got dumbed down :( ... but I miss my friends, the people I could help by grouping with them when they are lower level, without them being penalised as badly. I love this game, I do not mind the grinding, I love the graphics, I love the flying, I even don't mind the PVP as much as I thought I would ... but its so lonely, and the lack of interest in the paying Client that NCSoft displays to date, the constant bugs, the DCs, the Lag, the inability to get past the login a lot of the time, the "cant send a Petition now" ... "Cant report this person now" ... when you are in an area where you are supposed to be able to do so because they ARE a bot. Seeing all the unpunished GoldSellers ... that makes it suck. If they would just respond, and explain their reasoning behind any ban, it would be something.

What I don't understand is the fact that everybody just assumes that everything will be handed to you in a game. I think it SHOULD take a while to get to max level. Grind or no grind, it should not be a cakewalk like WoW. I picked the game up when WotLK was coming out and got up to 80 with no problems. Even the 70 - 80 was simple, although it was my first MMO so it seemed difficult. But looking back, I could get half a level without even trying. There was no challenge. And now every good piece of gear can be obtained by doing heroics and stuff that doesn't require any skill. It's so watered down. Aion requires some time, ok a lot of time. But if you enjoy the game, then you should enjoy the time it takes. Yes, it does get monotonous at times. But that's why I have made alts and craft. I have a 35 SM who is almost 36. It takes time. But remember, it's a GAME. It's supposed to be fun! If you aren't having fun, then don't do it. Simple as that. But if you don't like the game, don't go bashing the creators for it. Yes Aion has faults but everything does. Either embrace them or find something else to do.

All i see is a whining quitter who even with an extensive knowledge of mmo's decided to play an asian one, one that had already before beta been hailed as a grindfest. Congratulations, you are douchebag, you have proven nothing more. Also, ive reported over 50 bots and still going strong, maybe ill get that chinese bot mount one day ey?
  • Culdor
There are levels where it is a grind, but frankly its not that bad. The problem is the belief that you need instant gratification, that everything should come quickly... why? Why must you be able to level every 2 days? Aion has its issues, but folks that scream about the grind are simply yelling 'WoW made me think everything should be easy'. If more folks took some time to craft, to go explore the huge world, go rifting, if its your cup of tea go Role Play, go run an instance with friends, and so on. Before you know it the level is mostly done.

Aion is not prefect by any stretch, but the grind is only bad if your only goal is level 50 and you want it in a month.
  • The grind is bad because the point of the game is to get to enjoy PvPvE ... they make that painfully clear... with every piece of rhetoric they used to get us to play the game. Then they give you a system that takes forever to get to that point. It is only natural for people to get agitated. Why do so many fail to grasp this point?

NCSoft failed in that regard. Logically... a game like wow should take the time and length of aion to complete. That game isn't about end game pvp. And it has an insanely indepth story behind it. And Aion should make it easier for you to get to the end so you can start raiding castles-- not the other way around. This is the entire reason why people are leaving AION in droves... those players are pvp players.
  • @Work
I sympathize with you, author. While I completely understand my fault in cheating, I was lured into believing that an automation program would be safe if closely monitored... and for that I blame myself but also NCSoft more exactly. They should have dropped their self-professed Banhammer on the Asian servers that were instrumental to the development of these sophisticated bot programs. Sophisticated they are! I have never seen such well developed hacks for any game, ever. You can't google Aion without pulling up a million hacks and gold resellers. NCSoft stood idly by as the Asians wreaked havoc on their servers, only to implement their draconian ban measures on the North American servers. Do I detect some ethnocentrism? Down with whitey! We will see if they poisoned their own goblet by implementing these perma-bans on North American cheaters who are not reselling gold. I could see a severe punishment like the deletion of characters, but to ban the account, IP address, etc? I believe they went too far. I am just a regular guy who has to work his life away to keep up with reality, automation is cheating but it is also the ticket to me maintaining my family and still having some fun on the weekends. May I invoke the subscription base of Warhammer Online in 2007 pre-WoTLK? WoW Cataclysm is going to bury Aion and NCSoft has perma-banned their buffer to the tune of $400,000/mo. So fanbois flame on, call us faggots or whatever it is cool to call people in Jr. High these days... but the business sense of all these bans escapes me. They could have at least let us beg for mercy.

What a fucking pussy... go back to wow faggot...
  • Amberlee
To quote many others. You're doing it wrong.

Also, the guy said he played beta, got to 30, enjoyed it. So what was the problem? The only changes to the game from Beta to Release was the addition of MORE content, quests and Exp. They've also boosted some xp since release. How can you play beta, enjoy it, get to 30 without complaint of the grind - then at release... complain about the grind!?

You can hit 20 in a matter of 3 days with just a few hours of game play a night. This guy did not utilize his game time very well at all.
  • Quoting who? No one else has said this guy is doing it wrong short of "he sucks for botting."
1 - 30 while grindy, is still fun. You can actually walk away with some measurable amount of progress after a night. I am lvl 40 now. And I can tell you that the 30's were a bitch, and I am in so far now it doesn't make sense to quit.

If you played beta, you would know that they had elite mob spots that (now) are only regular mob grind spots. And if you played, you would know that the questing boosts don't help all that much, and the exp from mobs is still taking forever. I would love to get your "time played." I think you are flattering yourself on how fast you think you are leveling.

Great read =) i personally didnt bot on this game, but i did on Ragnarok online, and man that game was hell. Aion was a great game in the betas since they didnt show you the whole picture, but this game lacks alot, a whole fking lot and it will take years before its decent.
  • Redemptionist
The worst part of this? The reasoning is perfectly justifiable!

Aion feels, looks and smells like a half-done early release. Fan forums and the official forums generally agree there is not enough tasty content to keep (typical EU/NA) people going in the mid to long term, causing the feeling of grind-grind-grind as you try to reach the next level.

Up to level 25-30 is a sweet ride, there's an epic feel to the lore and set-pieces which moves at a decent enough pace. Flying & gliding is well implemented although the combat mechanics are slightly broken - flight time is limited so any extended or large battle will usually end up being fought on the ground.

After level 30 the grind starts to kick in, quest rewards are ultra low. The time to level rises steeply while the XP per kill only fractionally increases. The interesting lore and events are few and far between. 45 manually? You'll be doing the grinding keystroke pattern in your sleep. 50 manually? Hope you got a lot of free time and nothing interesting to do!

Doesn't stop me from playing it quite yet. I believe it will eventually be a solid and entertaining game - right now there simply is not enough content to hold the average gamers interest in the middle level range for anyone but the hardcore players (who try and burn right past these levels as fast as possible!). Notably some of the later-game instances & events are very entertaining. Dredgion does deliver the goods Aion advertises, provided the opposing faction turns up and stays for the duration - which often does not happen as one side generally rolls the other mostly due to levels or numbers.

Classes balanced around being level 50? Maybe. The rock-paper-scissors class system is always shaky, common to this type of game. Poor damage\defense scaling means balance until 45+ barely exists. PvP(vE) is typically flee, zerg, guard-bait or gank at the moment and there is no reason to expect any change in the near future. Apparently the Korean servers (ahead on releases as usual) are still doing this.

In a year's time: If the content is expanded and the grind softened (improving quests, more of them, better rewards or otherwise) Aion would probably be a very solid game with a healthy subscriber base. The alternative? Closed outright, there is no scope to keep revenue coming in and NCSoft is not known to tolerate lower income niche games regardless of how pretty or the potential...Tabula Rasa anyone?

Awesome potential, poorly delivered at the moment. The next major patch promises the world and, hopefully, should reduce the grindy feeling by giving more entertainment as you slowly move towards the end-game.

If the whole new patch is intended for levels 40+, it's fairly likely Aion will fall as subscribers start to drop off around the mid-late 30's. If you can get over the 40 grind as things are now, your probably committed or unworried about the grind in any case!

I'm laughing at all the time you wasted cheating only to get banned. You probably cheat on your taxes and steal from work.

so, you couldnt stand a Korean Game after playing the Carebear MMO known as WoW (even though you should have known what Korean games are like considering your past history with MMOs) and decided to "quit" and bot to 50. You deserved the Ban, you lazy pile of Crap.

Your using the Excuse "I quit aion Before I used a bot" As a way of justifing it all to yourself.

Its like Saying "ill Stop Smoking" then Hanging Round other smokers just to breath in the second Hand smoke they Breath Off. If you wanted to quit just Delete your Character and Stop the account. Dont use it as an excuse to bot.

Go back to WoW and have fun with your Bland, Player Carebearing Blizzard and there Excuse for a "good" MMO.

I for one agree with this 100% - I used to hate bots, I'd whisper them calling them names (even though I knew nobody was around to read it, it did make me feel better) I had leveled a sin to 30 on OB - then release I did a sin to 31, gave up on melee pvp, so rolled a ranger got it to 38 - and all I kept hearing was "the real grind is yet to come" so I started botting at that point, not with the ranger but I rolled a chanter, I kinda feel the way you did, if I get caught and get banned... whatever. I'll just wait for FF14 and SW-TOR. I've also been noticing alot of other "legit" players have started botting as well. By legit I mean, they have a title, have a real name and maybe a legion. I love this game, the gameplay is fantastic in my opinion. But for me, staying in one spot for 6 hour sessions killing the same mobs over and over, using the same rotation... what difference does it make if I'm at my PC or not?
  • I felt the same way in Aion Beta. This game's biggest pit-fall is the grind... Its just insane to think you're going to be grinding for hours on end. Its the reason I stopped playing this game in the Beta.
