One of my instructors shoved a Nintendo DS into my hands the other day and made me try the practice stage of the fantastic new game, Scribblenauts. The game was developed by 5th Cell, and is designed to be an adventure puzzle game. The game play is based solely around you using your imagination to come up with nouns that will help you solve whatever puzzle you’re attempting.
While I can’t speak for the storyline, the game play is hilarious. In the time I played the game I summoned; a boggart, and elf, a reindeer, a king, a politician, a communist, a socialist, a ninja, a zombie, money, a jungle, a bow and arrow, wings, a jet pack, a priest and some other stuff I can’t remember. I made the elf ride on the reindeer, I made a zombie eat a mobster, I fought a ninja by shooting him with a bow and arrow, and I made the communist, socialist, and capitalist fight over the stack of money. They ended up killing each other off in the end. If for nothing else, this game is worth it just for a good laugh. You could spend a lot of time sitting around with friends thinking up different combinations of things to try. I highly recommend this game to people of any age. Parents will probably be surprised by how many words their children know (or don’t know).
