I’ve complained about how the majority of FPS games that have come out in the last two or three years have had the same boring Grey/Sepia tone to them. The environments are all rocky and dull and everybody looks like they just ran out of a collapsing building. Taking this into consideration, I was not very impressed with the newest game play footage of Borderlands from 2K Games.Borderlands What I can say about Borderlands that is good though is that the team has tried to make the game more like an RPG similar to Diablo 2, while the game play is still FPS. It reminds me of Fallout, which should make a lot of gamers happy. There are different classes you can choose from. Each one has it’s own special skill tree that give you knew abilities and what not. The graphics are pretty cool because everything has this posterized look to it that helps you see your enemies more distinctly. There is some color in the game. There are these weird tendrils of light that float around when certain actions take place. Some of the creatures burst in to flames when you attack them, which is also pretty rad.

I can’t say whether or not this game is going to be good or bad. The gameplay looks really good, and according to Gamespy it’s “It’s like unearthing the bomb shelter where Walt Disney’s head is frozen and finding out he’s still animating things. Something like that.” I seriously doubt that, but hopefully it will bring us gamers many hours of joy. Just don’t expect to see me joining your party any time soon.
