Day 2 has finished and it went a lot more smoothly than the previous day. Although, I feel like we didn’t see as much as we did before. There’s not a whole lot to say, this day went similarly to the previous day. I feel as though I’m discovering new games and areas of the main expo hall that I didn’t know existed. Which just got me realizing that there’s no way I’m going to get to play everything that I’d like to here. Lines for big name titles such as: God of War 3, Dragon Age: Origins, Halo 3: ODST and Left 4 Dead 2, are hugely attended which take a good hour or two to get to play them.
The one thing that I didn’t realize, until today, was that Assassin’s Creed 2 is not playable in any capacity at the Ubisoft booth. They did have a panel which showcased another demo of the game, but with that game coming this year; the fact that it’s not playable seems odd.
However, the most disappointing thing that I went to today was the Star Wars: The Old Republic panel. This was something that we waited in line for about an hour for, and then watched the hour panel. Presenting the panel were a couple developers at BioWare and a developer from Lucas Arts. During the panel they proceeded to show the same cg trailer that has been seen multiple times before. Once the trailer was completed, they went on to make jokes and teased some reveals, but it just felt like they were filling time. Once they finished their stand up comedy routine they started to show the game. Now this is where things get interesting. If you have any interest in this game, then you have probably already seen the demos of some of the classes in the game. And wouldn’t you know it, that’s exactly what they proceeded to show to us. To wrap this up, the only thing really obtained from the panel was the loss of 2 hours and a free KOTOR. This was definitely the most disappointing thing seen at the whole show.
That about wraps up Day 2. I got to play Dark Void, Uncharted 2 and the sequel to Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time. Coverage for Day 3 will be lean as I will be spending all of my time in the long lines of Dragon Age: Origins, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.
