As usual I’ve been farting around on Facebook, clicking on whatever new gaming opportunity I see advertised while I’m logged in. One of my friends posted their level up notice about a game called “Typing Maniac”, so of course I had to try it. I’ve played “Word Challenge” by Playfish, but I actually enjoy Typing Maniac better.
Word Challenge is a typing game in which letters are randomly selected by the computer and it’s up to you to come up with as many combination of words with those letters as you can within a time limit. You get a little time back for every word you type. If you can use all 6 letters at once, you can go into a bonus round where you have to guess a name of a friend from your friends list, using the letters they give you. Once you finish the bonus round, you refresh and get new letters, potentially to get more time
Typing Maniac is a typing game based on speed. Type the words to make them go away. When you miss 100% of the words, then you lose the game. You can earn spells like; fire, ice, slow, and wind. These spells will destroy all the words on the screen, freeze them, slow them down, and restore your percentage, or health.
If you’re wanting to get better at your typing skills, but either don’t know how to get more practice, or think practicing typing is boring, I would suggest playing a game like Typing Maniac a couple times a day. Word Challenge is okay too, but isn’t as good for practicing typer, but is good for exercising your brain. It’s less annoying than joining chat rooms, and better practice than talking while in game on something like WoW or Starcraft.
