Adventure Quest HomeWhen I was younger and couldn’t afford to buy my own games for the computer, I would go and find free games to play. One of those games was Adventure Quest, a free web based game in which you create a heroic avatar to go fight monsters and complete quests.

I started playing this game when it was still in it’s near infancy. The art was decent but the flash animation wasn’t so hot. Eventually it became worth my time to just become a Guardian for the site. Guardian’s were how this site made it’s money, similar to how Maple Story or Flyff charges you for in-game money to customize your avatar. The difference is that you pay to become a Guardian once (currently one fee of 19.95). You can also become an X Guardian (which I am as well) which gives you experience boosts along with a bunch of other stat perks, and unlockable quests.

FightThis was a fun game to watch grow as well as play. The flash is way better and they even have cut scenes for their quests now! I love how campy this game is. The monsters have awesomely cheesey deaths, like falling apart, exploding or shrivling up. The concept artists for this had a lot of fun, and it comes across with how bizarre the creatures look. The team also sneaks in fun nerdy things into the name of monsters, or characters names and text conversations. I really wish they would update the avatar options though. They haven’t updated them since the game started practically, and it’s the feature on here that annoys me the most!

If you’re looking for a fun game to play for free, this is a good one to try. I warned you about all of the pet peeves I have as a gamer about this game, but I still think it’s worth my time to play. It’s easier to understand, and play than Maple Story or Flyff, and won’t drain hundreds of hours out of your life. Check it out!
