What do you look for in a game when you are thinking about buying it? What kind of features on the back of box turn you off to a game? Now think about what the worse game you ever played was. Why was it so bad? Did it traumatize you into never playing a game like that again? That was pretty much what happened to me when I played Cake Mania.

Cake Mania

I’m sure you’ve all seen this game at Target or online. “What’s cake mania? Why would I want to play that?” If your male you probably immediatly think that this game is for girls. Well the marketing team sure did a good job if that was your reaction. If your female though, you may just be curious. I came across this game as a suggestion from my mother.

Cake ManiaCake Mania is like Diner Dash or any other Big Fish Games. The essential game play is; a customer comes in, orders a cake, you make the cake, they leave, another customer comes in. The challenge is in fulfilling multiple orders at once and completing them before the customers leave. The more customers you help the more money you get the more points you get the better you are at this stupid game.

For whatever reason I decided that I would actually finish this game, and did so within a day. It was annoying and by the time I was done it was apparent that I would never need to touch this game ever again. My mom was shocked, first at how quickly I beat the whole thing (she never finished it) and second at how I could not want to play it again. Guys, if you’ve been looking to get your mom (or kids) into gaming, check this one out. Or Plantasia, which actually was sort of fun, partially because it had more variety in it’s game play. Cake Mania is available for PC and DS.
