BlizzconBlizzcon is almost upon us! To help you guys get just as geared up about it as we are, I would like to do a short review on a game that you can play for free on the Blizzcon website. It’s called Failoc-alypse, and if you bought Blizzcon tickets, you may recognize this little piece since it was available to play while you waited.

Failoc-alypse is a 2D game in which your character runs back and forth across the screen shooting strange green guys and collecting gold so you can buy nukes. There is an introduction to the game that attempts to tell a story (and gives up about half way through), but at least gives you enough of an idea about the world to not really care about what’s going on.

Game play is really simple. Arrow keys to move, space to jump, z to attack, x for special, and c to call in a nuke. Yeah, did I mention that this all takes place in front of Blizzcon? Well it does. And what’s better is the more green guys you shoot, the more people come out to watch. When you call in a nuke, Grunty the Murloc Marine (Check the Blizzcon homepage for details) delievers it with a happy wave and you and your bystandards are left unscathed.

Choose Your Dude

There are three characters to choose from; a guy with a gun, an alien satyr lady, and a witchdoctor. I played with all three characters and I enjoyed the lady the most. Her attack is more limited than the guy’s, but she flies across the screen and it’s awesome. The witchdoctor has a crazy magic fireball attack.

This game is a good way to kill five or ten minutes. Generally I get tired of it around my 6-800 killmark. I did play until 1000, and at that point I just couldn’t take it anymore. I strongly suggest playing this game if you’re on the Blizzcon site already, or maybe even going there just to play it!
