Free Online Game Review: Albatross18 Season 3

Albatross is an Anime influenced Golf/RPG. If you’ve ever played Mario Golf, you will feel right at home here.

This is strictly a Multiplayer game. Yes, you can technically play on your own and I DO recommend you do this. The main game is played against or cooperatively as a team against other people. Don’t feel too intimidated though, because the people you play with aren’t your typical gamers. They are relatively respectful of new players, just try to avoid team matches where you might bring your team down a peg by being the new guy.

The game play itself is simple. It’s the courses themselves that will test your mettle. The courses range from frilly pink trees and sunny days, to snow covered icy courses. There will be of course, various obstacles in your way and hilly greens that will frustrate you in the harder courses.

The RPG elements are slow going, it took me at least 5 - 10 matches to get one level. I stuck with shorter matches, as it was easy to multitask and play at the same time, which is another cool thing about this game. If you play one on one, it will demand more of your attention, if you play a round with four people however, you can get by with not pledging full attention to the game.

A lot of what you do in game gains you in-game currency called Pang. You can use Pang to purchase items that not only dress up your character, they beef up your various stats. While I find the dressing up thing silly, some players get obsessed with decking out their character, and if you are this type of person, this is a great game for you.

Albatross is a surprisingly deep game. With the RPG elements, items, and various game options, it can keep you vested and interested for a long while. As long as you aren’t biased against Anime themed games, this is a game that you will enjoy.
